Freedom Chemical Co. was a leading global manufacturer of specialty and fine chemicals for sale to a variety of customers who used these chemicals to enhance the performance of their finished products. Freedom was a market leader in its niche product lines in food, beverage and personal care ingredients; textile and paper chemicals; organic pigment and dyes; and specialty organic chemicals and intermediates. Freedom had sales of about $300 million in 1997, of which approximately 40% came from international markets.
